Support for Dropbox Full Access

Up until now, our Dropbox integration had a major limitation: You2box could only access files in one specific folder, namely /Apps/YouTuBox. Originally we chose this path following the principle of least privilege: This means that we only request the permissions from Dropbox that are absolutely necessary for our service to work. This ensures that your data is safe and that we cannot access any other files in your Dropbox account.

With time, new requirements and use cases arise. It has been on the roadmap for a while to support full access to Dropbox. Today, shortly after the v3 release, it's finally here 🎉

This feature is particularly useful if you want to:

  1. transfer arbitrary files using the manual upload feature.
  2. set up multiple Watch Folders, linking to different YouTube channels.
  3. set up a shared Dropbox folder as a Watch Folder (sharing the App folder is not possible).

Sticking to the principle of least privilege, and to preserve your privacy, we implemented this feature as an option along with the classic App Folder access. So it's up to you to decide which access level you want to grant to You2box. Of course, even if you choose Full Access, we will never access your files without your consent. But we can relate to anyone who distrusts some random app on the internet and prefers to choose the more restrictive access level. In fact, I would still recommend you choose the App Folder access if you don't need the full access feature.

So there you go. We hope this new feature will make You2box even more useful for you. If you have any questions or feedback, please don't hesitate to contact us. We are always happy to hear from you.
